Programme Leader: Mbongeni Mtshali
Programme History
The Kuyasa Kids started in 2004, with about 20 kids, and by then we only did the gumboots dance, and singing. As the group progressed, we added drama and dance.
In 2005, the group was invited to tour America, performing in different churches, with the aim of fundraising money for orphans in Africa. Since 2005 we have been invited every year. The group was started by the kids who were only in the sponsorship Programme, but after we returned from the first tour, we decided to involve not only orphans but also other kids from the community. At the moment the group is a mix of orphaned kids and kids in the community. We now have 35 kids in our group.
